October - Glowing Reviews

If you know me, you know that I look forward to Balloon Fiesta all year. You know that I start dusting off the ol' camera to get ready for the big event weeks in advance. You know that I proudly post pictures year after year and try to get everyone I know to come join the fun. Balloon Fiesta is my VERY FAVORITE thing. This was a night glow, and while it ultimately got "canceled" due to lightning (a show of its own), we did get to see a lot of balloons inflate and glow. It was a great night with very little wind and the pilots were as excited to be there as I was.

September 15 - Nailed It!

There is something almost biblical about this, but really it was a blacksmith at the fair. Michael was so excited to see them work and the man was so nice that he gave Michael a nail he made. Yes, Michael, not Owen. My big kid :)

April 30 - Beep! Beep!

When Michael worked on the Santa Ana Pueblo, they used to say if you saw three roadrunners, head straight to the casino because it's a sign of luck. I see roadrunners around but I've never had one in my yard before. This one was cruising along the wall of my back yard.

March 22 - Go With the Flow

My husband wants to live in a rural setting, so we went "shopping" for land in the North Valley. It was a fun day and I had fun along the irrigation ditch trying to figure out sun flare (which is absent from this picture, which should tell you something).

January 20 - Blue Skies, Nothing But Blue Skies...

When I went to bed, the news was talking about storms of epic proportions. I went to bed thinking I was gonna have to dig out in the morning - OK, not really a probability in New Mexico, but you wouldn't know that if you were watching the weather report. The day was crisp and beautiful, the sun was shining and the clouds were little wisps just floating by.

This is one of the things I love most about NM, no matter what season, it's always sunny. Even on the worst day, a few minutes in the sunshine can lift my spirits and there's no shortage of that spirit-lifting sunshine here.

January 19 - Purple Mountain Majesty

Driving to the grocery store, I passed the new park in progress and noticed how gorgeous the mountains looked. Admittedly, I take those mountains for granted. They stand guard over the city day after day, and I'm just used to having them there. We got a little snow in the mountains, giving the skiers something to smile about, but it was a crisp clear day down in the city.

I drew a little attention with my camera. The park construction foreman came over to see what I was taking pictures of. He tried to act unconcerned, but something tells me he was making sure I wasn't taking pictures of the construction and the park-to-be. Now, if I had one reporter bone in my body, I would wonder what he was worried about and start to investigate...but...I don't. So I just smiled and talked about the mountains and went on my merry way.
